After a Nasty Plot, Mismagius reaches 618 Special Attack. This, when combined with great Speed, typing, and a fantastic ability make Mismagius a ferocious sweeper. Shadow Ball is Mismagius's primary STAB attack, and it offers great coverage in UU, hitting the common Ghost- and Psychic-types super effectively. Hidden Power Fighting offers prefect neutral coverage alongside Shadow Ball, hitting many resists of Shadow Ball super effectively. Thunderbolt could be used instead to get better coverage on Flying-types and Milotic, but it also loses the 2HKO on Chansey at +6. The last slot is really decided by what item you choose to use with Mismagius. Substitute works best with Leftovers, allowing Mismagius to easily set up on Chansey, dodge Sucker Punch, and foil potential revenge killers. Thanks to a great typing and an ability that gives it a total of 3 immunities, Mismagius can easily switch into a lot of Pokemon and set up a Substitute to block any kind of status move the opponent decides to throw at it. After getting a Substitute, Mismagius can freely set up Calm Minds until it is ready to sweep. With this set, Mismagius can set up on those Pokemon that have the potential to cripple every other of its sets without difficulty, such as Chansey, Clefable, and Registeel when lacking Iron Head. Shadow Ball is the best STAB attack Mismagius can use, and in combination with Hidden Power Fighting, Mismagius gets perfect offensive type coverage, hitting every single Pokemon for at least neutral damage. With access to Taunt, Will-O-Wisp, Levitate, and a great Ghost typing, Mismagius makes for a great stallbreaker and also works well as a spinblocker. Taunt offers a lot of utility, stopping status moves from hitting Mismagius, halting the opponents attempt to set up entry hazards, and stopping opposing walls from using a recovery move. Will-O-Wisp works amazingly well with Taunt, wasting away the opponent's HP and allowing Mismagius to offer team support by burning physical sweepers. Pain Split, while being very unreliable recovery, is recovery nonetheless, and it helps with killing off Chansey quickly. Shadow Ball is for stopping Mismagius from becoming complete Taunt bait, and it hits the many Psychic- and Ghost-types that roam the tier.Altre Opzioni
A Choice set can be utilized with either Choice Scarf or Specs to revenge kill or hit hard, and Mismagius has access to Trick to ruin walls and counters. Destiny Bond can be used with Mismagius's great Speed, but finding a moveslot for it is extremely hard. Thunder Wave can be used with Will-O-Wisp to form a Double Status set, but Mismagius often has better things to do. Energy Ball can be used if you really want to screw over Quagsire and Gastrodon, but has no use outside of that. Hex can be used over Shadow Ball in the Support set due to having a greater Base Power than Shadow Ball after using Will-O-Wisp on your opponent.Checks & Counters
Snorlax is the best counter to Mismagius, shrugging off everything but a +2 Life Orb-boosted Hidden Power Fighting or Will-O-Wisp and KOing with Crunch or Pursuit. Specially defensive Roserade is also a huge pest to Mismagius, stalling out the Nasty Plot set while also taking on the support set reasonably well. Weavile also threatens Mismagius, as it outspeeds it and has both Pursuit and Night Slash to trap and revenge kill Mismagius, respectively. Mismagius is also threatened by physical Choice Scarf users which can easily revenge kill it when it's not behind a Substitute.
